25 April 1941

Raid No. 37

On the 25th April 1941 the alarm was sounded at 21.29 hours and the raiders passed at 23.51 hours. About 22.50 hours several incendiary bombs dropped on the Anlaby Park District and these were followed by two parachute mines, one of which fell in Rokeby Avenue and the other in Council Avenue. Both of these are residential districts and as a result a considerable number of houses were rendered untenable at both incidents. The incendiary bombs did not cause any serious damage and the total number of people killed was about 10, whilst those seriously injured was not much greater.
