Raid No. 38

At 9.56pm on Saturday 26th April 1941 the air raid warning was sounded and the raiders passed signal was not sounded until 02.55 hours on the 27th April. During this warning, about 01.00 hours two parachute mines were dropped by an enemy aircraft. The first one fell at the east end of Lynton Avenue Anlaby Park Road South, and the second one fell in a paddock about 60 yards from the first mine. Extensive damage was done to 5 houses in close proximity to the mines and slight damage was done to about 150 houses and shops in the district. No casualties resulted from this raid.
