Raid No 52

On the 31st August, 1941 an air raid ”alert“ was in progress between 22.O6 hours and 02.26 hours, when sixteen HE bombs were dropped in the City. Four HE bombs were dropped in the Central Division, i.e., one at the corner of Harley Street and Beverley Road, one in Wellington Lane, one in Leicester Street and one in Park Grove, resulting in considerable damage to house property. Six HE bombs were dropped in the James Reckitt Avenue district of East Hull causing much damage to residential property. Six HE bombs were dropped in the Western Division, i.e., in Goddard Avenue, Glasgow Street and Woodcock Street, resulting in considerable damage to house property.

Total casualties were as follows:-
