Raid No 46

A further small raid took place on the 29th June 1941 when the warning was sounded at 01.29 hours and raiders passed at 03.34 hours, during this period several small calibre HE bombs were dropped in the Eastern Area of the city in the following districts -; James Reckitt Avenue, Ceylon Street, Marfleet Lane, Marfleet Avenue, Hedon High Road, near Hornsea Line at Fordyke Stream and on the King George Dock. Some of these dropped on open fields and did little damage but others fell on dwelling houses and some casualties only which one proved fatal – the Assistant Chief Constable. Nine other people received treatment at First Aid Posts and one of them was detained.
