The air raid warning was sounded at 00.20 hours on the 12th May 1941 and the “alert” period lasted until 03.46 hours on the 13th May 1941.
HE bombs were dropped in the centre of the city in Albany Street, Freehold Street, Blundell Street, Clifton Street, and Trafalgar Street area and other HE bombs fell in Princes Dock where several barges were either sunk or damaged. The damage in this raid was confined chiefly to house property and very few casualties resulted. Beverley Road was partially blocked but one-way traffic was able to proceed and the road was opened to traffic again on the afternoon of the following
