Raid No. 39

On the 3rd May 1941, the warning was in operation from 23.12 hours until 04.01 hours during which time the only incidents were in East Hull, in Frodsham Street in Messrs Fenner’s premises, a HE bomb was dropped doing considerable damage to the weaving and flax mills. Only three minor casualties were caused at this incident and none were caused at the second incident. Serious damage was done to a shed on the Alexandra Dock which received a direct hit from a parachute mine. The second parachute mine fell into the dock and the Admiralty arranged to have the dock swept and the mine cleared. No evacuation was necessary.
