Raid No. 61

Air raid alert “Red” from 25.14hrs on the 8th to 00.42hrs on the 9th. A small number of incendiary bombs were dropped in Western Division in Victoria Avenue, Richmond Street, Windsor Road, Huntley Drive, Murrayfield Road, National Avenue and Bricknell Avenue. All resultant fires, none of which was serious, were extinguished by police, wardens or fireguards. There was only one minor civilian casualty and one Police War Reserve was slightly injured in the throat due to the explosion of an incendiary bomb.
