Operation Remember Them
Operation Remember Them was one of the largest projects that we launched and that was to photograph every single CWG Headstone of WW1 & WW2 in the County of East Yorkshire and we asked everyones help in doing this. We are from complete and if you would like to help we ask that you follow these simple instructions:-
When you are photographing a Headstone please carry out the following checks :
- Check the Headstone for Damage
- Check the Headstone is clean
- Ensure your photograph is clear and that you can read the details on the Headstone. Remember a family member may look at this for the very first time and it will be your picture they see and read.
It is advisable that you acquire drop box, it is a free to use programme and when we give you the link to our public drop box account you can drop a folder containing all your photographs straight into our folder and it will appear on our desktops.
Please make sure that before you drop the folder it is named after the cemetery that contains the CWG’s and your name so we can distinguish all folders. A good folder name would be “Cottingham by John Smith” Before you embark on your venture please check the webpage that will list all Cemeteries that have been visited or have been allocated to a researcher to visit.
Lastly we want to thank you for your help and your name will appear on the website unless you do not want it to of a list of Researchers that have been involved in Operation Remember Them.
This will be the biggest depository of CWG Headstones in the whole of the County and we are proud to host this project and truly remember them.
